PICTURES & PRISONS

by Black Sambo.

I see the pictures on the wall
family pictures
pictures of lovely smiles
of infancy and adulthood
pictures of a Mama's determination
and children's hope.

turning towards the door, this...cell door here
is yet another picture
live-but heartless
this one i did not hang up
nor does it represent family or hope
it is a picturesque view of yet another
(brother's) prison door
to another cell where another political prisoner
is caged. Ugly pictures.

Yes - we are here - the political prisoners!
torn from loved ones
but never from love
never from hope...

All because we violated the un-naturalness
of contemporary white capitalist society!
with very natural liberating acts of violence -

we are fed up!
we want - we demand immediate, total change!

we acted
on the master plan from our children's smile
we acted - real
took a fall
knocked down - but not out!
and ready to stand tall again
with dignity, as always.
yes, we acted, and will act again - learnedly!

we do not relate to any kourt sentence
but only to the sentence of the beat
of our hearts -
the heart of the masses
pumping lifeblood to our Revolution.

listen to the conga drum
sending us the message,
The Word - to begin
the baptism of fire!

And on the Plan from our Children's smiles
which is forever projected on our foreheads
we will arise out of theese prisons
New Men/New Women!
ready for Nation-building
ready for give of our free labour
to build equality, justice
and a real happiness!

My pictures are the sky of my mind
my needs
and desires
and dreams
the prisons are too, too small to cage them
for they are the size of freedom.
So, prison, where is thy victory?

...spiritually, I'm over the wall...Already!
