AFRICAN GODDESS
AFRICAN
GODDESS
To
the god-like African Goddess,
Here
are mine -
my
votive offering,
I
can make fire raindrops
like torrents from the heavens
I
can cause a snow blizzard
in Lagos and Harmattan in Washington
I
can shake the earth -
and let it to burst asunder from its
core
I
know all the healing portions
than any medicine man that ever
lived...
Men
can't stand before me
I have tamed beasts and giants
I
have cheated death many times before
I know how to make storms rage
in
the ends of the Earth
from something as little
as
tea leaves in a China
I am the most skillful rainmaker
and
other things
left in the realm of the human
imagination
But
when it comes to you
I'm at my wit's end
Naked
and stripped of my sceptre
my knee buckle
I
fall at your feet
At your simple yet sophisticated
ways
I am but a child
To
your Majesty.
